Is 1 hour 15 minutes enough in Frankfurt? ›

But Frankfurt Airport is huge. If your arriving flight is at a remote gate (high probability if a European flight), it can take 15–20 minutes just to take a bus from the aircraft to the terminal building. I'd suggest 1–1.5 hours to be on the safe side and so you're not stressing about missing your connecting flight.

Minimum Connection Time in Frankfurt Airport

Most of the time it should take less than 30 minutes for foreigners. Often much less than that. You will almost always be at the baggage claim before your bags. The baggage claim is the limiting factor in Frankfurt which can take up to one hour so I agree with that.

MInimum time to rest and/or refresh and leave the airport and visit Frankfurt: six hours. This left about two and a half to three hours to explore the old town in Frankfurt and then head back to the airport. You can still do this with a six hour layover; you just won't have time to rest.

In most cases, US airlines will put you on the next available flight for free. (Even some ultra-low-cost carriers, like Spirit and Allegiant, will rebook you on the next flight for free if the missed connection is due to a flight delay.)

Two to three hours is the minimum recommended time for an international layover, but more might be needed.

Whether or not you need to clear a passport check depends on whether the airport you have arrived from and your destination are within or outside the Schengen Area. In most cases, however, you will need to clear security checks on your way through the airport.

Terminal transfers

All concourses at both terminals are connected (both landside and airside) by a free Sky Train (monorail). There is also a free shuttle bus. Luggage carts are not allowed on the Sky Train. The transfer between Terminal 1 and 2 on foot takes around 15 minutes.

Lufthansa and all its partners are located under one roof in Terminal 1 and at Pier A, which has been built exclusively for Lufthansa. Both terminals are only a few minutes away from each other by shuttle bus or by the "SkyLine" elevated railway.

It varies quite a bit. If you are an EU citizen, you can use the e-scanner and it is normally only 1 to 2 minutes. If you are a non-EU citizen, it just depends on if there are other flights arriving at the same time. It can vary from 2 minutes to 30 minutes.

A free shuttle service called "Skyline" connects Terminal 1 and 2 in the airport.It takes about 1 minute from Terminal 1 (A, Z) to Terminal 1 (B, C) and about 2 minutes from Terminal 1 (B, C) to Terminal 2 (D, E). Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines use the same Terminal 1 as ANA.

In most cases, your checked baggage will be automatically checked through to your destination airport. If this is not the case, pick up your baggage at baggage claim and check it in again with your airline.

How long does a layover need to be to leave the airport? It's fair to say that you'll need at least four to five hours, and ideally several more, to leave the airport, enjoy some quick exploring, and make it back to the airport in time to clear security to make your connecting flight.
